My heart sunk today as I received in the post my exam docket. With just over 3 weeks to my exams I don’t feel anywhere close to being ready. I’m taking advanced tax and advanced Financial Management and both are extremely complicated and cover lots of material. In fact my tax book is so big I’ve physically divided it into two to avoid getting a hernia.
At the moment I feel that I could go into the exams with my books and still fail. I’ve been watching Red Dwarf again and one of the characters is about to sit his flight engineering exam. In desperation he writes formulas all over his body to cheat in the exam. However just before he enters the exam he shouts out “I’ve covered myself in absolute rubbish”, he had no idea what it all meant. That’s how I’m feeling at the moment.
At this point it is very easy to panic and not make the best use of time I have left to revise. Having received the exam docket this morning, I took a deep breath and spent some time organising my life so I could take a couple of days off before the exam and still meet my work commitments. My aim is to concentrate on learning the material through as much question practice as possible. It certainly more interesting than just staring at notes and I find it helps the material sink in.
This is only a short blog because I know you are all far to busy to be reading this. Don’t panic, revise well and most of all good luck with the exams.
