Shivani began studying the ACCA Qualification in July 2006 and took her first exams in December 2006. She scored the highest worldwide marks for Paper 2.4.
‘I believe that accounting is the language of business. Having come from a business family, accounting knowledge was always considered essential grounding. I realised I needed to specialise in accountancy and that lead me to decide to pursue a professional qualification. The opportunities available to professional accountants and the high esteem in which they are held also played an important part in helping me to decide on my career.’
Based in Singapore, Shivani embarked upon Part 2 of the ACCA qualification after receiving exemptions for the Part 1 papers. She chose ACCA because of its comprehensive curriculum – a curriculum that she believes is constantly evolving.
‘Proof of this is the recently launched ACCA Qualification and the increasing focus on ethics and corporate governance, in particular the introduction of Paper P1, Professional Accountant.’
‘Added to this is ACCA’s excellent global reputation, and the fact that ACCA members are sought after by employers. The decision was an easy one.’
