ACCA has introduced a Professional Ethics module in its new qualification, which students can access when they are eligible to take Paper P1, Professional Accountant. Although completing the Professional Ethics module will not be a requirement for me as I registered as an ACCA student prior to 1 January 2007, I still decided to complete it as I can gain more knowledge about professional ethics (which are gaining an increasing attention among the accountancy profession) by attempting the module.
I logged in to myACCA and visited the ACCA Professional Ethics module, and found it to be well designed. There are nine units in the module which need to be completed in the order presented. The first six units are introductions to the theories about ethics and professionalism, while the next two units give students the chance to put those theories into practice. In the last unit, students will be asked to write and submit a brief description of what they have learned. Up to now I’ve just finished the first unit – ‘Start Here’, and I intend to complete the whole module in several sessions.
As students may need time to think about the material, the module can be worked on in several sessions. The list of units indicate which sections you have completed and which sections remain to be covered. If a unit is left without being finished, the status of the unit shows ‘incomplete’ and the time spent in it is recorded. Students can leave and return to a unit any number of times, and only when the unit has been worked through will the status change to ‘completed’. After completing one unit, the next one automatically becomes available, and students have to work through the units in the order in which they are presented. Another unit cannot be started unit until the previous one has been completed.
ACCA will review the time spent in the module and the content of the statement submitted in the last unit, but only the incomplete or complete status of the Professional Ethics module will be recorded against students’ information. When qualifying as an accountant, students need to declare every year that he/she is complying with ACCA’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. This module is really just the beginning of the process of becoming a professional accountant.
Even after completing the module, I could see the following message in myACCA page: "You now have access to the Professional Ethics module. Your records state that you have not completed the Professional Ethics module."

Hi Vignesh
I am also glad to be a co-blogger with you. I think the problem you faced was caused by the myACCA system and you may need to contact ACCA directly for help.
I wish you good luck!

Hello there,
Yang, being a co-blogger I have enjoyed reading your blogs and look forward to more from you...
Just a small query regarding the Professional Ethics module. I am not able to access it through the myacca page, which I presume is because I had passed my final core exams in June 2007 and did not need to convert to the new scheme.
But for the revised Oxford Brookes Project, the module is essential. Do you have any idea how I can access it?
Would appreciate your input.
Regards,
Vignesh
