I have just completed my practical experience requirement (PER) annual return via myACCA which offers a range of personalised services. As I am now a full-time student, the process is very simple. Firstly, I selected the ‘Annual Return’ item of the PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT list in the navigation menu, and then completed various sections according to my status. The whole process only took me a few minutes. As part of the PER, ACCA trainees - students and affiliates - are required to complete a PER return each year, and I found that there are three things relating to a PER annual return that trainees need to pay attention to.
Firstly, all trainees are required to complete an annual return, including those studying on a full-time basis, just like me. For those who are working for a gold or platinum Approved Employer - trainee development stream, they will also need to complete an annual return, although they may be exempt from using the TDM to plan and record their performance objectives.
Secondly, a PER annual return can be completed at any time in the annual return year, which started on 1 January and ends on 31 December. Irrespective of whether you complete an online or paper-based annual return, ACCA will need to receive your annual return by 1 January at the latest, immediately after the 31 December deadline.
Thirdly, if a student or affiliate makes more than one return in a year, then the most recent entry will overwrite the previous ones. So the latest entry should include any previous information entered.
After using the online PER annual return function, I want to say that it is convenient and well designed. I think annual returns are good for trainees, as they allow ACCA to track trainees’ progress and assist trainees by developing products and services to help support their training and development.
Happy New Year to all!
